Our Story
Awa Loom began not as a business idea, but as a moment of finding.
Finding rhythm in slow hands.
Finding meaning in fibres that once grew quietly in the earth.
Finding home in a place shaped by rivers, weather, and time.
In Te Reo Māori, Awa means river — a living body that carries memory, movement, and connection. Like a river, our work flows between people and place, past and present. We weave with intention, honouring materials that have lived before they became part of a home.
Fibre is resilient, textured, and imperfect — much like the human stories behind every space. We chose it not because it is easy, but because it asks us to slow down, to listen, and to work with care. Each curtain becomes a soft boundary between light and privacy, inside and outside, noise and stillness.
Based in Waikato, Aotearoa New Zealand, Awa Loom is shaped by land, water, and human hands. Our pieces are made to be lived with — to age, to move with the light, and to quietly hold moments of everyday life.
Awa Loom is not about trends.
It is about finding balance.
Finding connection.
Finding your place — softly woven into space.
